A silent black & white film that shows the national French highway (N7) in what appears to be the late 1950’s. Packed with Citroën 2CVs, Traction Avants, H-Vans and a DS or two.... And with other classics including a Renault 4CV, Peugeot 203 and 403, Panhards and some notable English classics. Can you spot the Morgan?
The 2008 ICCCR site is online with a home page at least; a map of the Vallelunga International Racetrack near Rome (where the event is being held), and a button that lets you download their one page brochure. Hopefully it will grow substantially from what was effective July 1, 2007. For now at least you can get contact info and start planning your trip!
In our Winter 2005 Citroënthusiast issue we featured Citroën’s award winning C4 commercial that emphasizes their innovative technology by having a G4 morph into a dancing robot! The original was produced by The Embassy, a very innovative special effects house in Vancouver, Canada. It would appear that certain creative talents could not leave well enough alone, and hence a commercial spoof using a 2CV has hit the video circuit. Produced by Alex Mallinson, an artist for X-bam, a new media production company, Alex created this affectionate spoof of The Embassy’s fantastic Citroën C4 advert. Very cute and you’re sure to get a chuckle from it!
A “widened” 2CV Truckette on top, but a Ferrari F355 underneath. They call it a “super rally car”. It was fabricated by Nimik, a group of Italians who love to build zany race cars.
Here’s something for the kids at Christmas. A Citroen 2CV Charleston Pedal car. Last time I looked there were 139 in stock. It’s made under licence from Citroen.  Want to rent a 2CV for your next vacation in Europe? Make sure you win the lottery before you go! A weekly rental is a rather hefty 699 €!
This site gives you glimpse of some of Europe’s most obscure non-exotic cars, and others that are just rotting away. Click on “Barn Finds”. Unfortunately many Citroens and Panhards are pictured. Look to the bottom of the site and click on World of Spotting for some rather interesting snapshots.
Citroën DS at the Bastille Day celeb. in New York City, 2006. A video by CCNA’S very own Phil Caron!
CAC member John Painter from Tillsonburg, ON, came across and interesting article published on the BBC website that discusses a 2CV in relation to current London England traffic congestion and emissions regulations. It’s an interesting read! I’ll bet the 2CV emissions output are better than they think. I know back in the 70’s when the EPA was on their first crusade to clean up US car emissions there was a Citroen engineer in their NJ headquarters that took the exhaust of a “smog efficient” Cadillac and ran that into the air intake of a 2CV. Lo and behold the 2CV ran just fine on solely the output of the Cadillac’s cleaned up exhaust! The EPA was none too appreciative of that little stunt!
